What if the first day of your relationship was the only day you had?

Seventeen-year-old Sara is a seeker. She’s always on the lookout for the perfect moment to capture with her ever-present, point-and-shoot camera, especially on her first trip to New York City.

Sam is a finder. He has a knack for finding what other people can’t—a first-edition book or the last two tickets to a sold-out Broadway show. In New York, there is always something interesting to find.

When Sam and Sara’s paths cross, neither one of them is prepared for what they will find out about each other—and about themselves when they form an unlikely partnership in search of a seemingly elusive work of art. They have one day to find the impossible. Fate brought their talents together, but what happens when time runs out? Will love be able to overcome fate? This new novel from award-winning author Lisa Mangum explores what happens after hello.

The characters

Sara, without the h,visits New York City along with her father for the first time. Her father is trying to sell his website to businessmen but despite his busy schedule he promises Sara to go for launch, just the two of them, thing that never happens because her father cancels their plans the last moment.

So it's just Sara and her camera in New York City. She's thrilled to be in a city that's always so busy and crowded because she's an amateur photographer and New York seems like an amazing place to practice. Little did she know that just because of a photo, she'll live one the best days of her life.

Then, there's Sam,who's very good at finding the things people ask him to.When he meets Sara, he's about to finish one his "missions" and that is to deliver a book to a celebrity who is his brother's employer. But things don't go according to plan and Sara ends up with a request from this celebrity. She has until the end of the day to find a piece of art.Sara could have easily declined but there's a catch. If she doesn't make it then Sam's brother will get fired.

Sara has no idea how and where she could find something like that but Sam,like I mentioned above,is very good at this kind of thing,so he agrees to help her.And that's where their story begins...

I really liked Sara as a character. She's just seventeen and she has never been kissed or done anything crazy, fun or impulsive in her life. But she's brave and curious, and these two things are what get her involved in the first place.Throughout the book, she discovers her self and confesses to Sam that her dad doesn't spend enough time with her.Talking about it to someone who is practically a stranger turns out to be the best therapy she could get.

The exact same thing happens to Sam as well.He has his own past and secrets which occurred back home that changed him forever but confessing his story to Sara, helps him move on.

There was obviously an attraction between these two but the book didn't focus a lot on that which is the only thing that I didn't like.It ends, though,in a way that makes you wonder..

Verdict

After Hello is a story about forgiveness, first loves, being impulsive and realizing who you really are.
